Yes, Grass has been audited by multiple independent security groups and is certified by AppEsteem. It uses zero-knowledge technology to ensure that only public web data is accessed, and it never touches personal files, passwords, or browsing history.

Grass: Project Guide | Latest Updates, Presale & Airdrop

Q: What is the Purpose of Grass?

The purpose of Grass is to create a decentralized, user-owned infrastructure for AI data. It aims to prevent a monopoly on the internet by allowing everyday users to participate in the data-scraping economy and earn rewards for contributing the bandwidth needed to train AI models.

Q: How Can I Participate in Grass's Ecosystem?

Users can participate by downloading the Grass extension or app and running it on their devices to earn points. Additionally, users can refer friends to earn bonuses, stake their GRASS tokens to secure the network, or participate in governance votes.

Q: What Sets Grass Apart from Competitors?

Grass is unique because it requires zero hardware investment and leverages Solana's high-speed Layer 2 architecture. Unlike traditional scrapers that operate ethically 'gray' areas, Grass is transparent and owned by its users, providing verified data through ZK proofs.

Q: What are the Risks Associated with Grass?

Risks include price volatility common to new DePIN tokens and potential selling pressure from significant token unlocks for early investors. Additionally, users should be aware of regional regulatory risks regarding bandwidth sharing in certain jurisdictions.

What is Grass?

Grass is a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) and the first ever Sovereign Data Rollup. Its mission is to decentralize the AI data economy by allowing users to monetize their unused internet bandwidth. By participating, users contribute to a global, user-owned web crawl that provides AI developers with the ethically sourced and high-quality data necessary to train advanced models, moving away from centralized control by tech giants.

How Does Grass Work?

The platform functions through a distributed network of nodes installed by users via browser extensions, desktop applications, or mobile apps. These nodes use a small fraction (typically 1-5%) of a user's idle bandwidth to scrape public web data. This data is then verified using zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs on the Solana blockchain to ensure its integrity and provenance. The processed data is structured into datasets that AI labs purchase using the native GRASS token or USDC, with rewards flowing back to node operators.

What Makes Grass Unique?

Grass stands out by offering a 'zero-hardware' entry point into the DePIN space; unlike Bitcoin or Helium, it requires no specialized rigs, only an internet-connected device. It is the first project to implement a Sovereign Data Rollup on Solana, capable of processing up to 1 million transactions per second. Key use cases include providing real-time search context for AI chatbots and creating massive, unbiased datasets for LLM training while preserving user privacy through advanced cryptography and AppEsteem-certified security standards.

Who Are the Founders of Grass?

Grass was founded by Andrej Radonjic, who serves as the CEO of Wynd Labs, the primary development team behind the project. Radonjic has an academic background in engineering physics and mathematics from McMaster and York Universities. Along with a core team of experts in cyber security, high-frequency trading, and AI infrastructure, the founders established Grass to address ethical issues and centralization in the web-scraping industry.

Latest news

What Key Events Have There Been for Grass?

Significant milestones include a $3.5 million seed round led by Polychain Capital and Tribe Capital in late 2023, and reaching over 2 million active nodes globally by early 2024. In October 2024, Grass successfully conducted 'Airdrop One,' one of the most widely distributed airdrops in history, distributing 100 million tokens to early supporters. In mid-2026, the project pivoted to revenue-funded rewards, paying out its first stablecoin (USDC) distributions to participants.

Project Announcements

Recent updates include the launch of a new native, non-custodial in-app wallet required for reward claims and the introduction of 'Live Context Retrieval' (LCR) technology, which allows AI models to access real-time internet data through the decentralized node network.

Upcoming events

Latest Airdrop

The 'Stage 2' reward claim window opens on July 22, 2026, and closes on January 22, 2027. This airdrop is unique as it distributes USDC funded by network revenue rather than native tokens. Additionally, a larger 'Season 2' token distribution involving approximately 170 million GRASS tokens is anticipated for the second half of 2026.

ICO Time

The seed funding round concluded in December 2023 with $3.5M raised; subsequent funding reached $13.5M.

IDO Time

The token became available on major decentralized and centralized exchanges following the TGE in late 2024.

TGE Time

The Token Generation Event (TGE) took place on October 28, 2024, at 17:00 UTC.
