What is UUSD?

UUSD (youves uUSD) is an algorithmic synthetic stablecoin pegged to the value of the U.S. Dollar, operating on the Tezos blockchain. It serves as a decentralized, non-custodial financial instrument designed to provide stability and liquidity within the Tezos DeFi ecosystem.

How Does UUSD Work?

UUSD is created (minted) when users deposit eligible collateral, primarily Tez (XTZ), into a secure vault on the youves platform. The system maintains its peg through an algorithmic approach with a target collateralization ratio (often 300%), and its stability is further reinforced by conversion rights for minters and holders. When a loan is repaid, the corresponding UUSD is burned to release the collateral.

What Makes UUSD Unique?

Unlike centralized stablecoins, UUSD is entirely non-custodial and self-governed by the youves DAO. It offers holders the ability to earn interest income directly in UUSD through a savings pool. Additionally, the platform is built with 'baking' rewards in mind, allowing users to earn passive income on their staked Tezos while using it as collateral to mint UUSD.

Who Are the Founders of UUSD?

UUSD was launched by the youves platform, which was designed and kick-started by ubinetic AG, a blockchain development firm based in Zug, Switzerland. The team is comprised of software developers and cryptocurrency enthusiasts led by industry specialists like Werner Broennimann, focusing on institutional-grade decentralized finance solutions.

UUSD Price Prediction

As a stablecoin, UUSD is designed to stay at $1.00. Experts focus on its 'peg stability' rather than price appreciation. Reliable forecasts suggest its value will remain tied to the USD so long as the Tezos collateral remains sufficient and the youves algorithm functions correctly. There are no credible predictions for long-term speculative growth as that would contradict its purpose as a stable asset.
