What is Ardinals?

Ardinals is a decentralized infrastructure project centered around the Ordinals protocol on the Bitcoin blockchain. It aims to facilitate the creation, management, and trading of BRC-20 tokens and Bitcoin-native NFTs (Digital Artifacts) by providing user-friendly tools and marketplace integration.

How Does Ardinals Work?

The project utilizes the Ordinals protocol to inscribe data directly onto individual satoshis—the smallest units of Bitcoin. By leveraging Bitcoin’s SegWit and Taproot updates, Ardinals enables the permanent storage of images, text, and code on-chain, ensuring that assets are decentralized and immutable without needing sidechains.

What Makes Ardinals Unique?

Ardinals distinguishes itself by focusing on 'Digital Artifacts'—true on-chain assets that do not rely on external IPFS or centralized servers. It offers specialized indexing services that allow for faster discovery and verification of BRC-20 tokens compared to standard Bitcoin explorers.

Who Are the Founders of Ardinals?

The project was initiated by a community of Bitcoin developers led by Casey Rodarmor (who originally proposed the Ordinals theory) and various anonymous contributors in the BRC-20 space. Their expertise lies in Bitcoin core development and decentralized storage solutions.
