What is Two Prime?

Two Prime is an SEC-registered investment adviser (RIA) that provides institutional-grade digital asset management and financial services. Founded to bridge the gap between traditional finance and the cryptocurrency market, it focuses on risk-managed investment strategies and bitcoin-backed lending. The firm serves a wide range of institutional clients, including corporate treasuries, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals, aiming to preserve wealth while capturing the growth potential of digital assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

How Does Two Prime Work?

Two Prime operates by applying traditional quantitative finance techniques, such as derivative overlays (options and hedging), to the digital asset space. This strategy is designed to manage volatility and protect against significant market downturns while generating yield. They offer products like the Digital Assets Fund and specialized lending services where Bitcoin is used as collateral in a secure, non-rehypothecated environment, allowing institutions to access liquidity without selling their underlying assets.

What Makes Two Prime Unique?

Two Prime is unique for its compliance-first approach as an SEC-registered entity, offering a level of transparency and regulatory oversight often missing in the crypto space. Unlike speculative funds that seek extreme gains, Two Prime prioritizes the Sharpe ratio—a measure of risk-adjusted return. Their ability to offer 'Original Issue Discount' (OID) loans with 0% interest and their partnership with firms like Figment to merge Proof-of-Work yield with Proof-of-Stake rewards further distinguishes them as a sophisticated institutional bridge.

Who Are the Founders of Two Prime?

The project was co-founded by Alexander S. Blum and Dr. Marc Fleury. Alexander S. Blum, the CEO, is a digital assets expert who previously founded Atomic Capital and worked as a technology advisor for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Dr. Marc Fleury is a renowned open-source technology pioneer and investor, best known as the creator of the JBoss application server, which was sold to Red Hat (IBM) for $350 million. They are supported by Chief Investment Officer Nathan Cox, a derivatives specialist from the traditional hedge fund world.
