What is Petra?

Petra Wallet is a non-custodial wallet in the Aptos ecosystem. It acts as a “gateway” for users to store tokens, collect NFTs, send/receive assets, and connect to Aptos dApps via web, iOS, Android, and a browser extension.

How Does Petra Work?

Petra follows a self-custody model: users control wallet access and transactions, using Petra to sign transactions and interact with dApps on Aptos. Beyond the app/extension, Petra also uses the web.petra.app domain (redirected via Aptos Connect), supporting dApp connections through the updated domain.

What Makes Petra Unique?

Petra stands out due to its strong “native fit” with Aptos: fast transaction experience, onboarding-friendly UX, and integrations that reduce friction for entering the Aptos ecosystem. Key highlights include: - Ecosystem-first: built by Aptos Labs and optimized for discovering Aptos dApps. - Coinbase Pay integration (fiat on-ramp): makes funding the wallet easier on desktop and mobile. - Petra Vault (multisig): designed for teams/organizations and users who need higher security.

Who Are the Founders of Petra?

Petra is developed by Aptos Labs. Aptos Labs was co-founded in 2021 by Mo Shaikh and Avery Ching.
