LINE Games is a premier game developer and publisher, and the gaming affiliate of LINE Corporation. Its mission is to bridge the gap between traditional Web2 gaming and the evolving Web3 landscape by building user-centric gaming ecosystems. Through its dedicated platforms like GAME DOSI and partnerships with entities like LINE NEXT and the Kaia blockchain, LINE Games aims to provide immersive gaming experiences where players can truly own and trade their digital assets.
How Does LINE Games Work?
LINE Games operates by developing original high-quality IPs and onboarding third-party titles onto its blockchain-enabled platforms. It utilizes the Kaia blockchain (a merger of the Finschia and Klaytn networks) to facilitate the creation and trading of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The ecosystem provides developers with specialized SDKs and APIs to integrate blockchain features—such as digital wallets and decentralized marketplaces—directly into games, allowing for seamless item ownership and cross-game utility.
What Makes LINE Games Unique?
What sets LINE Games apart is its 'Gamer First, Web3 Next' philosophy, which prioritizes fun and engaging gameplay over complex crypto mechanics. It leverages the massive global reach of the LINE messenger app, enabling 'mini-games' that can be played without separate downloads. Additionally, its ecosystem allows for deep NFT integration, where in-game achievements and rare characters are converted into assets that players can trade in a secondary marketplace, fostering a sustainable player-driven economy.
Who Are the Founders of LINE Games?
LINE Games was established by veterans of the gaming industry with over a decade of experience in developing global hits. A key figure is Kiwoong Han, who leads the Gamefi Lab at LINE NEXT and has spent years researching the intersection of blockchain and gaming. The project is backed by the extensive resources and technological expertise of the LINE Corporation, a leader in mobile communications and digital services across Asia.
