Virtu Financial

The primary goal of Virtu Financial is to provide global market liquidity and transparent execution services. By acting as a constant buyer and seller, the firm ensures that markets remain efficient and transaction costs for investors are minimized.

Investors can participate by purchasing VIRT shares on the NYSE, utilizing Virtu's institutional trading tools like Triton, or trading ETPs where Virtu acts as the primary market maker.

Unlike many competitors, Virtu operates with a lean, engineering-heavy staff and a proprietary technology stack that allows for extreme scalability across global markets while maintaining a market-neutral profile.

Virtu employs enterprise-grade security for its trading infrastructure. While it has faced past regulatory scrutiny over internal 'information barriers,' recent settlements have led to the implementation of more rigorous supervisory procedures and role-based access controls to protect client data.

Key risks include potential regulatory changes in high-frequency trading, market volatility affecting trading margins, and operational risks such as cybersecurity threats (e.g., a 2020 business email compromise incident which the firm has since addressed).
